The Omar Khayyam Club of America lives again

October 29, 2017

A group of scholars and enthusiasts have taken the initiative to create a new Omar Khayyam Club of America.  The first meeting of the original Omar Khayyam Club of America took place on March 31, 1900.  The Club flourished into the 1920’s, but its activities finally petered out around 1935.  Interest in Khayyam and the Rubaiyat have remained strong in North America but there has been no organisation to link those active in this field.

The new OKCA is being established initially through a weblog with the following address  In an early post, webmaster Austin Torney sets out the new Club’s aims as follows:

“While based in America, the Club is not restricted, and so all are welcome to submit general and more personal material, such as poems, essays, art, research, music, performances, philosophies, outings, discussions, and whatnot. Send to Click the ‘follow button’ to receive email notification of entries.”

So many congratulations to all involved with this exciting new venture.  All of us will enjoy following the new blog and having a new way of linking into the network of people interested in the world of Khayyam and the Rubaiyat.
