The Rubaiyat and Rumi on the Scottish Borders, August 2nd – 4th 2013
Charles Mugleston has alerted us to the Beshara School Rumi Festival being held 2-4 August this year at a location on the Scottish Borders. He will be performing Edward FitzGerald Ruba’iya’t of Omar Khayyam in a yurt as part of the Festival. The event takes place at the Chisholme Estate near Hawick. Those interested can find out more at www.rumifestival.org .
Charles has also drawn our attention to the book LOVE IS ALL by Professor Talat Sait Halman about the famous poet Rumi. It is available from www.bkg.com.tr. Apparently this book contains a glowing reference to EFG and The Ruba’iya’t.
There is more about Charles Mugleston and his interest in the Rubaiyat in earlier post – see https://omarkhayyamrubaiyat.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/new-suffolk-based-website-promoting-the-genius-of-efg/.
I won’t be able to attend but wonder if any of you will. If so, I hope to read a report.
Details are far from final but plans are working to bring my Omar to London in November of January.
We can’t go either, David, and we also hope that there will be someone who can provide a further report on the blog.
Great news that your Omar may come to London in the winter. Please keep us all informed.
