The Folio Society produces new edition of the Rubaiyat
Another collector has alerted us to the fact that The Folio Society in the UK is now offering a new edition of the Rubaiyat. This is based on the de luxe limited edition version issued for the FitzGerald and Rubaiyat anniversaries in 2009. It again contains the text of FitzGerald’s first edition and has the same illustrations by the artist Niroot Puttapipat, and the Introduction by A S Byatt. But the size is smaller than in 2009, with several quatrains to a page, and much less elaborate presentation and binding. The price is correspondingly less, £80 against the £395 asked for the 2009 original, which sold out very quickly and is apparently almost impossible to find second hand. For more details of the new edition see http://www.foliosociety.com/book/RUB/rubaiyat-omar-khayyam
Recently I was alerted by Google that yet another edition was in preparation to be published by Folio Society. See: http://gedpalmer.com/85832/778636/w-o-r-k/the-rubaiyat-of-omar-khayyam.
I just sent a message to Folio to find out how and what, and when I have more details I will add to this reply.
By the way, there is now a 20% discount for this reissue of the new Puttapipat edition.
Folio Society informed me just now that the edition that they have recently published, is the one that was advertised in the article that I linked to in my previous comment.
Also the 20% discount seems to have disappeared! (too bad, I’m sure I wasn’t dreaming yesterday)
